Reunion of Two Attorneys: Alexa Klein Joins as Counsel at Joshua Stein PLLC

Alexa Klein

Veteran real estate attorney Alexa Klein has joined the legal staff of Joshua Stein PLLC, following seven years as an in-house counsel, operations director, CEO and small business owner in New York City, according to Mr. Stein, the firm’s sole principal.

This is a reunion of sorts, as Ms. Klein and Mr. Stein worked together at the firm of Latham & Watkins LLP about ten years ago.

“Alexa was a valuable member of our legal team at Latham,” says Mr. Stein, “and I’m delighted she is rejoining me as counsel at my firm.”

In addition to her recent business experience, Ms. Klein brings with her five years of experience as a real estate lawyer.

Her legal experience spans the commercial real estate world. Ms. Klein has represented myriad clients on all sides of transactions. She has handled acquisitions, dispositions and financings, development rights transactions, commercial property agreements, office leases and loan transactions.

In 2008, soon after leaving Latham, she became in-house counsel at a New York real estate investment and development firm that develops and manages hospitality and commercial real estate properties and funds.  There, Ms. Klein gained legal knowledge spanning entity creation, joint ventures, investor relations, employment and partnership dissolution. As a litigator earlier in her career, she prepared motions, correspondence, pleadings, and court documents, and appeared in court.

She began her legal career in 2004 at Latham, where she worked with and was mentored by Mr. Stein in the firm’s real estate practice group.

In 2009, Ms. Klein followed her passion and entrepreneurial spirit into the business world, and in 2010 opened a children’s yoga studio and company in New York City. She cultivated her leadership and operations skills as CEO and Co-Owner of Yogi Beans for six years (which she still co-owns). She also served as Director of Operations for Success Academy Charter Schools, a high-performing New York City charter school network. In that capacity, she oversaw a team that handled construction, permit filings, design and building management issues.

Ms. Klein received her JD from NYU School of Law and her BA, summa cum laude, from University of Pennsylvania. She is a passionate yogi who is inspired by Iyengar yoga, and has taught yoga classes around New York City. After 15 years living in New York City, she now resides in Old Westbury (Nassau County), New York, with her husband.

Joshua Stein PLLC handles commercial real estate financing, leases (ground and space), development, hotel transactions, and acquisitions. Its clients range from global banks to major developers to individuals acquiring LLC interests in small buildings or signing a lease for their first retail space.
