Los Angeles, CA, June 2, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Multi Award-Winning filmmaker Thomas J. Churchill's is widely acclaimed in the action and thriller genres, but will soon be making his much anticipated foray into the popular family genre with the ensemble film The Rack Pack. In the tradition of Home Alone and Goonies, this film is sure to be a crowd pleaser! Emmy Award-winning TV reporter and actor David Schifter (Sleepy Hollow, Another World, Eyeborgs) stars in this film, which he is also executive producing.
This heartwarming film is based on The Rack Pack series of illustrated books about a group of friends who overhear a set of unsavory adults planning to steal long lost Civil War treasure buried deep underground. The stories, penned by U.S. Army veteran Darrell Rackley, who also stars in the film and is an executive producer, are based on his own childhood memories of a simpler time of how kids used to play before the internet age. Since his first book was released, Rackley repeatedly received feedback suggesting The Rack Pack would make a great movie, so Rackley and Churchill are now creating an indiegogo campaign to fund this film. There are many wonderful perks for funders who want to take an active part in the film.
This live-action, kid & family-friendly feature movie will bring wholesomeness back to cinema. This ensemble film stars Mel Novak (Black Belt Jones, Eye for An Eye opposite Chuck Norris and Christopher Lee, Tom Horn opposite Steve McQueen, Bruce Lee's Game of Death, Samurai Cop 2: Deadly Vengeance opposite Bai Ling), Krista Grotte (Lazarus: Apocalypse, Emerging Past), and David Schifter (Sleepy Hollow, Another World, Eyeborgs). Churchill will also act in the film.
Growing up, watching cool family films such as Home Alone, The Sandlot and the Goonies, and then to actually get a chance to do a wonderful film in that genre like The Rack Pack and keeping it in the tradition of these iconic films is a dream come true.
Churchill just recently directed Checkpoint starring William Forsythe, Bill Goldberg, Fred 'The Hammer" Williamson, and Kenny Johnson (Bates Motel, Sons of Anarchy, and The Shield), as well as frequent collaborators Novak and Grotte. Ever the prolific director of various genres, he has also directed Lazarus: Apocalypse starring James Duval (Independence Day) and once again Grotte. He also directed The Emerging Past starring Brooke McCarter (Lost Boys) and Grotte as well.
