Taking Composite Manufacturing To Another Level With Vacmobiles Vacuum Systems

New Zealand-based Vacmobiles.com announces that it now has significant presence in over 35 countries owing to its "ready-to-go" vacuum systems that guarantee performance at the point of use.

Its innovative products only need a single phase power which allows shorter vacuum lines, minimises leakage, cuts consumable costs and boosts quality. Perhaps the biggest advantage offered by Vacmobiles (http://www.vacmobiles.com) is mobility-it can be used for composite manufacturing and repairs in remote areas.

Vacmobiles Managing Director Cliff Walker says, "Our experience in vacuum systems and composite applications over the past 20 years has given us a unique understanding about the components that are needed to operate efficiently, and last in the tough environment of the composites shop."

The company traces its origins back in 1986 when it was solely providing a composite boats builder. It slowly grew by supplying vacuum pumps and one-off vacuum systems to other boat builders. Vacmobiles found its niche in vacuum infusing systems piggybacking on the popularity and high demands of the America's Cup challenge.

Used for single and double bag resin infusion, carbon prepreg, resin transfer moulding, Vacmobiles has built a reputation for laminating more efficiently than ordinary rotary vane vacuum pump-based products. It's been used not just in boat building but also wind energy, aerospace and aviation, military hardware, and the automotive industry.

Mr. Walker explains: "In conventional vacuum systems, metal or plastic components typically fail and joints work loose or crack, which leads to vacuum leaks that are difficult to find and repair."

In contrast, vacuum products under the Vacmobiles line are ideal for composite manufacturing because the components use rugged aluminium manifold blocks to ensure toughness and reliability. The vacuum systems are also flexible because all the parts that require servicing can be repaired one at a time without disrupting operations.

Businessman Steve Thompson, who owns Stompcraft company, attests to the product as he claims to use Vacmobiles vacuum for his boat building business in Vietnam.

He says the reliability and the ease of use of the product allowed him to infuse resin to his boats and introduce a new method on the factory floor that is used in manufacturing wooden boats. "The VABS equipment is state of the art and gives us fantastic results everytime. The back up and service from the VABS team has been superb," he says.

Mr. Thompson has ordered three Vacmobile vacuum systems to be used for composite manufacturing in his factory.

Mr. Walker says that even if they have distributorship abroad, Vacsmobile still sees a lot of potential for New Zealand. "New Zealand has a strong composites manufacturing market and we work directly with our local customers, ensuring any area for possible improvement is recognised and incorporated into our machines," he adds.
