FOUND™ Takes on Saving the Ocean With #The100kInitiative
Beverage Company Uses World Ocean Month to Protect Ocean Wildlife for June 2019 Through Non-Profit Campaign: The sustainable beverage company to launch non-profit campaign with Oceana and fashion brand les girls les boys to raise awareness for World Ocean Month
NEW YORK, June 3, 2019 (Newswire.com) - On June 1, FOUND will debut #The100kInitiative that aims to change consumers’ behavior on single-use plastics and call on companies to support Oceana, the world’s largest ocean advocacy group, and their efforts to protect marine wildlife.
According to UNESCO, the number 100,000 represents the number of marine mammals impacted by plastic in the oceans. To commemorate these animals, FOUND has produced 100,000 glass bottles of the brand’s naturally sparkling, infused mineral water, exclusively designed by world-renowned artist Amit Greenberg, in honor of World Ocean Month with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting Oceana.
“Plastic bottles are the number one plastic dumped into oceans. It is important to FOUND to play an active role in helping protect our planet’s oceans and wildlife from plastic pollution as a beverage brand. We need to give consumers alternative and sustainable choices to #breakfreefromplastic. With #The100kInitiative, we are delighted to support Oceana’s efforts and offer people a choice that can help protect marine wildlife,” states the co-founder of FOUND, Mark De Luca.
On Monday, June 17, FOUND and Oceana will partner with les girls les boys, the fashion brand by creative visionary Serena Rees, to host a week-long immersive experience and pop-up that brings #The100kIntiative to life in New York City. les girls les boys is committed to inspiring sustainable change amongst the fashion industry and will feature a curated pop-up shop of their latest swim collection with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting Oceana throughout World Oceans Month.
“When FOUND came to us with their idea for #The100kInitative, we knew we absolutely had to be a part of it,” says Serena Rees, founder of les girls les boys. “We understand that being more sustainable isn’t just a line that you cross. It’s a path that you follow. Providing a plastic-free choice for every moment in a person’s daily life is essential, even when it comes to purchasing their favorite LGLB products. Taking this step will help us be better as a brand and we hope that through this initiative, we can inspire more in the fashion community to do the same.”
Together with Oceana, FOUND and les girls les boys will also co-host a panel in the #The100kInitative pop-up space with industry experts to discuss how companies and consumers alike can continue to be more conscious and mindful of plastic-free choices, and how we as a planet can help better protect our oceans on Tuesday, June 12.
“It is critical that companies focus on reducing and not just recycling plastic,” begins CEO of Oceana, Andy Sharpless. “We hear constantly from our supporters and others that they want to reduce their plastic consumption but don’t know how because they don’t have easy choices. It is time for all of us to demand the companies and governments provide these choices and make real steps towards reducing plastic use to dissipate the future tsunami of plastic headed our way. We need to do this for our oceans and our future.”
FOUND, LGLB and Oceana invite everyone to join the 100k Initiative by pledging to use less plastic at https://drinkfound.com/pages/the100kinitiative.
