Fit Learning™ Launches Chicago's First Precision Teaching Laboratory

Students age 3 and up consistently improve by a full year or more in as little as 40 hours using proven research-based cognitive learning theory

Fit Learning™ Chicago officially opens its doors on November 5, 2018, at 1636 W. Belmont Ave., Chicago. For children age three and up, the Fit Learning Model isolates their core reading, comprehension, math, writing, and thinking skills and trains them to fluency. This includes rapid processing speed and a measure of true mastery or proficiency in all these critical areas. Moving children to fluency through cognitive fitness training produces improved memory, heightened confidence, increased resistance to distractions and fatigue, and the ability to quickly and effortlessly learn new things. “We provide a diagnostic approach to learning to address the root cause of difficulties in learning,” said Dr. Aditi Mehra OTR/L, DHS- Chicago Fit Lab Director.

“Despite living in a brilliant school district and having 20+ yrs. of experience as an occupational therapist; it was truly defeating when I could not find a solution for my son,” said Dr. Mehra. “I knew there were other parents out there just like me; so, after seeing the profound results firsthand, I decided to bring the program to the Midwest. Fit Learning is the only which program addresses all the barriers to learning (attention, auditory processing, etc.) while consistently producing on year’s academic growth in only 40 hours”.

“The strong and consistent results of Fit Learning are why we are so excited to expand our mission from New York and transform the learning for all students in the Chicago area,” Dr. Mehra said. “Fit Learning has a vast understanding to produce profound learning gains with every student. This enables us to achieve the ‘impossible’ with every learner who walks through our doors.”

Fit Learning Model

“While biology clearly plays a part in learning, more than 70 years of research demonstrates that environmental features assume a much greater role,” Newsome said. “Those features comprise the scientifically validated principles of learning and serve as the guiding system for the Model, and the Model is what enables Fit Learning to consistently produce one year’s growth in 40 hours (see chart below).”

The Fit Learning Model has been researched and developed over the last 18 years and offers highly individualized programming for any type of learner age three and above. The figures above represent a 40-hour rate of improvement comparisons (ROI) for learners assessed in school districts nationally versus learners who received instruction at Fit Learning.

Fit Learning utilizes Curriculum-Based Measurement (CBM) as a means of evaluating the progress of learners enrolled in relation to national norms. CBM is a nationally norm-referenced assessment system with more than 30 years of empirical validation in evaluating the academic progress of students throughout a school year.

“The Fit Learning Method is designed for every kind of student. Our Model enables us to rapidly accelerate the learning abilities of all students – regardless of age, disability, challenge, or label,” Smith said. “Throughout our history, we have dramatically improved the cognitive skills and academic performances of a vast range of students, and we can’t wait to start making a difference in Chicago.”
