Be a Part of the World's Largest Swimming Lesson on June 24 at Glenwood Hot Springs

On Friday, June 24, at 9:30 a.m., Glenwood Hot Springs will participate in the World's Largest Swimming Lesson™ (WLSL), a global event to educate the public about the importance of learning to swim to prevent drowning.

Glenwood Hot Springs will participate in the World's Largest Swimming Lesson

As a host site, Glenwood Hot Springs Pool will join with approximately 500 other locations around the world to orchestrate the largest ever swimming lesson conducted over a 24-hour period. The goal is to spread the word that swimming lessons save lives.

Glenwood Hot Springs swimming lesson participants must be a minimum of 6 years old. Cost is $12.25 for children 6-12 years old, $19.50 for teens and adults, and free for Pool pass holders and Athletic Club members. Register online at www.hotspringspool.com/swim/swim-lessons/schedule-registration. Arrive at the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool admissions area at 8:45 on June 24.

Since its inception, more than 155,000 children and adults have participated in WLSL lessons generating more than half a billion media impressions about the vital importance of learning to swim. The 2015 WLSL event included 38,170 participants from 22 countries.

Drowning remains the leading cause of unintended, injury related death for children ages 1-4, and the second leading cause of accidental death for children under 14. Research shows participation in formal swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% among children ages 1 to 4, yet many kids do not receive formal swimming or water safety training.
