An Attitude of Gratitude at Glenwood Hot Springs

November is the perfect time to pause and remember all the reasons we have to be thankful. At Glenwood Hot Springs Resort, we asked around to find out what our staff is especially grateful for this year.

Cultivating an attitude of gratitude is easier than you might think; having an outlook on life that’s positive and uplifting contributes to an overall sense of well-being. At Glenwood Hot Springs Resort, we are grateful for many things: Mother Nature for supplying the geothermal spring water that fills the world’s largest hot springs pool, our amazing staff that works to make every visitor experience exceptional and for breaking ground on our exciting new aquatic feature on the west end of the property.

According to Psychology Today, “Studies show that people can deliberately cultivate gratitude by literally counting their blessings…This proactive acknowledgement can increase well-being, health and happiness. Being grateful—and especially the expression of it—is also associated with increased energy, optimism and empathy.”

Thankfully, getting the hang of gratitude is easy.

It can be as simple as not taking your day-to-day for granted and noticing the good going on around you. If you’re taking a Glenwood Springs vacation, you might be especially appreciative for the opportunity to relax with family and friends, the chance to soak in our healing hot springs, dine on a delicious meal along Seventh Street or ski at your favorite Colorado ski area. The important thing is to acknowledge the things and people who bless your life.

Ralph Waldo Emerson put it this way: “Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you and give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.”

We asked our employees and management to take a minute let us know what they’re thankful for. Here’s what they said:

  • “I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Glenwood Hot Springs organization and a member of this team. We are so lucky to be part of this community and to be surrounded by the beauty of Colorado” —Kevin Flohr, Director of Operations
  • “My son made the Dean’s list and will graduate in December. He’ll be moving on to study aerospace engineering in Boulder, Colo.” —Rebecca Johnson, Front Desk Team Lead
  • “I am thankful for the opportunity to raise my children in a safe, healthy and active community.”—Kelley Cullen, fitness instructor
  • “I’m grateful for the Grateful Dead.” —Rich Jaskiewicz, Lodge Maintenance Supervisor
  • “I’m grateful for the amazing team I work with at the Lodge and our ‘extended’ family throughout the resort. They make coming to work fun and fulfilling.” —Leslie Naugle, Front Desk Team Lead
  • “I have been blessed with the greatest family in the world and would not be where I am today if it weren’t for their love and support.” —Callie Norton, Sales Assistant
  • “I feel blessed to wake up each day knowing I have a wonderful family, a husband who is my best friend, and the privilege to work with some of the best people I’ve ever known. I’m grateful for many things, but the people in my life are my greatest treasures.” —Loretta Ayala, Lodge Manager

As a leading wellness destination, we at Glenwood Hot Springs are grateful for our dedicated staff and our many patrons. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving. To learn more about Glenwood Hot Springs Resort and make lodging reservations, please visit www.hotspringspool.com.
