Melbourne Marketing Agency's New Initiative - Small Business Owners Facebook Group
There is a project brewing in the Next Marketing office - part business building, part local branding, part experiment.
May 29, 2014 (Newswire.com) - There is a project brewing in the Next Marketing office - part business building, part local branding, part experiment.
Jo Macdermott, Owner and Managing Director shares the details of Next Marketing's latest venture.
"A feel weeks ago we started to execute an idea that I have had floating about in my head for a period of time."
Here is the background.
"When I first started Next Marketing in 2008, Small Business Victoria asked me to participate in a couple of programs that they had going at the time - one was a video and the other was related to their Facebook group called 'I'm a business owner in Victoria'.
Fast forward to 2014, I have been watching the Small Business Victoria Facebook group grow and thought there was a gap in the market to create another one - except with a really local focus.
Having moved into our office space last year in Moonee Ponds, I have also been thinking about ways of growing our local branding, getting to know more local business owners and having a good excuse to call council to see how Next Marketing could get involved in some of the local economic development unit projects."
With that in mind, three weeks ago Next Marketing created the 'I'm a business owner in Moonee Valley' Facebook group and did what all people do at the start, just got it going.
Fast Forward to today, they have circa 420 members, a group that is very positive with lots of interaction and their first meeting with Moonee Valley council. All in three weeks!
Erol Sevim from the Next Marketing team also this week spent one day knocking on doors distributing flyers which they had printed.
General discussion from within the Facebook Group indicated that members were very keen to meet and therefore Next Marketing have organised a social event on Friday 16th May at Vinyl bar on 549 Mt Alexander Road, Moonee Ponds. All are welcome to come along for casual after work drinks. It is a great networking opportunity for the small business owners in Moonee Valley.
"In addition to our original goals, I have also added something into the mix this year which has really helped us focus. I am going to enter this project into the Australian Marketing Institute's award program this year. Now we really do need to make it happen!"
