Mauritius Boom in Tourism

Mauritius tourism is booming. The government expects the economy to grow 3.7% this year, up from 3.3% in 2012.

In recent years, Mauritius has been in competition with other destinations in the Indian Ocean for the tourism trade. However with a string of new hotels and resorts opening, tourism in Mauritius is on the up and steadily increasing.

The beautiful island of Mauritius has always been a beautiful holiday destination, and is the reason that Mark Twain once wrote "You gather the idea that Mauritius was made first, and then heaven was copied". Whilst it is still a naturally beautiful destination with superb beaches, sugar cane fields, forests and tropical vegetation, tourism developments have made it even more alluring for visitors. With more top class accommodation choice than any other island worldwide, as well as the introduction of golf courses, spas, wonderful restaurants and luxuries such as private pools and butler service there is no better time to visit Mauritius.

Mauritius and its tourism industry have recently won more awards; the island was recently awarded the prestigious World's Best Honeymoon Destination at the world tourist awards. Its resorts and hotels are continually developing their product and offer unique experiences such as watching films on the beach (LUX* resorts), lessons in Astronomy and stargazing (The Oberoi) and cooking classes with a Masterchef winner (Maradiva Villas resort).

There really is no better time to go and visit Mauritius - you will not be disappointed! The beautiful island of Mauritius, lying in turquoise waters, is a gem in the Indian Ocean. This enchanting island is a perfect year-round destination for an idyllic luxury holiday.
