March/April Issue of Industrial Water Treatment Magazine Available On-Line

The March/April issue of Industrial Water Treatment Magazine is now available free on-line at The magazine features technical papers on the treatment of industrial wastewater.

Wastewater treatment is a key part of successful water treatment at industrial facilities. The March/April issue of INDUSTRIAL WATER TREATMENT (IWT) magazine covers this important subject with two technical articles that examine the treatment of wastewater.

The latest issue features one article by Bob Kimball and Ken Klinko on the use of reverse osmosis for the recovery of produced waters from natural gas production. This treatment approach has proven useful in oil and gas fields.

A second article by Nermen N. Maximous, Ph.D., George F. Nakhla, Ph.D., and Wan K. Wan, Ph.D. of the University of Western Ontario examines the performance of polyethersulfone (PES) membranes blended with zirconium dioxide and aluminum oxide. The membranes were tested for their effectiveness in the treatment activated sludges for removal of heavy metals.

William Harfst, who writes the magazine's Waterside Fundamentals column, looks at the basic issues related to reducing wastewater discharge by conservation, reuse, and recycling.

A final article in the issue examines the whole topic of produced water and how proposed regulations by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency related to hydraulic fracturing are likely to impact the water business.
