Manhattan Center Productions Forges Alliance with Grammy Award-Winner "Commissioner Gordon" Williams
Few native New Yorkers can boast the producing and engineering accomplishments of "Commissioner" Gordon Williams. Born in the Bronx, he is a Seven-time Grammy Award-winner whose resume also includes numerous gold and platinum albums.
Online, November 1, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Few native New Yorkers can boast the producing and engineering accomplishments of "Commissioner" Gordon Williams. Born in the Bronx, he is a Seven-time Grammy Award-winner whose resume also includes numerous gold and platinum albums.
Now, Williams has brought his talents to Manhattan Center. From his office at the facility, he handles a range of music production activities and has been instrumental in attracting new business to Manhattan Center's recording studios.
Going forward, Williams is slated to play an even larger role at Manhattan Center, as the facility moves to establish its own music publishing company. Specifically, Williams will assist in producing the songs that will be composed by the writers Manhattan Center expects to attract.

Emerging from the hip-hop scene, Williams earned a production deal with Motown Records and went on to work with greats such as Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, KRS One, Babyface, New Edition, Nile Rodgers and Quincy Jones. Later, as Senior Director of A&R at Sony Music Entertainment, he worked on Lauryn Hill's solo debut The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill-for which he won his first two Grammys-and Will Smith's Men in Black soundtrack. He later won another Grammy for participating in the mixing of Carlos Santana's multiplatinum Supernatural. Among a galaxy of other collaborations, he's worked with Amy Winehouse, Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, Damien Marley and Stephen Marley (with whom he won three more Grammy awards). Williams is the brainchild behind The Lalabela Entertainment Group and is an adjunct professor at Long Island University.
