Ludo Buckets Another New Item

Ludo, LLC, a kids' candy manufacturer, launches its latest item, Bubble Bucket. A nostalgic tub of bubblegum and inside each piece is sour powder.

Forget boring sticks of gum in a wrapper, Ludo, LLC, a kids' candy manufacturer is launching a bucket full of bubblegum. To boot the bubblegum is filled with sour powder inside each piece!

"We are known for launching innovative items," explains Jay C. Pearlman, founder and president of Ludo, LLC, "and the Bubble Bucket is certain to be a favorite among children. The sour powder inside the gum makes my face change in ways I never thought was possible." The item should be available to ship to in a week and it will come in a 12 count display. Each bucket of bubblegum has assorted colors of gum and will retail between $1.19 and $1.99.

The Bubble Bucket is a great impulse product for retailers. It offers them the opportunity to earn big margins, differentiate themselves from competitors and creates excitement in the store for the consumer by offering something unique.

Ludo, which means to play in Latin, is all about fun and making consumers smile. The interactive candy manufacturer was launched in 2001 and two of its first customers were Target and Toys "R" Us. "Since that time we have shipped just about every major retailer and have had a tremendous amount of success in large chains that are not traditionally known for toy candy," says the smiling entrepreneur.

Bubble Bucket is certainly not the first creative item from Ludo. The company has launched many, including Candy Foam, a liquid that converts to a foam when the user pumps the bottle. Unlike other manufacturers, Ludo has not pursued licenses. It prefers to build its business with basic goods that are not dependent on the success of a movie or require hefty royalties and guarantees. Perhaps the simplicity of Ludo's products is why they have been so successful.

Ludo is currently working on several new items and Pearlman was not able to discuss further details at this time; however, he did indicate that there should be another interesting item being launched around January of 2012.

The Boca Raton resident was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a triple major in marketing, finance and logistics. While he did know at a very young age that he would be an entrepreneur, he never thought it would be as a toy or candy manufacturer. "I would have loved being an automobile manufacturer. However, I knew that was so unrealistic due to the capital requirements. Life as Willy Wonka isn't so bad," Pearlman says jokingly.
