Lost & Found Goes Social

Chicago Startup crowdfynd Mobilizes Your Social Media Networks to Find Your Lost Stuff

"Lost & Found" fliers are getting a digital facelift thanks to a new app called crowdfynd. crowdfynd is the first ever mobile and web-based application to use crowdsourced information for Lost & Found reporting, and this new app is bringing the search for your lost keys to your Newsfeed. With nearly $47 billion worth of goods being lost world-wide each year, the need for a service like crowdfynd has never been greater.

"We've all seen lost dog fliers and wanted posters around town, but our goal is to give people a chance to share information through technology they actually use: social networks," says Jay Sebben, Co-Founder and CEO of crowdfynd. "We are taking those posters and bringing them into the 21st Century."

Currently available for free download on the iTunes store, crowdfynd is a simple and effective tool open to anyone with internet access or a smartphone. A community of users can create and share posts if they have lost or found something. Using tools such as geo-tagged maps, photo sharing, direct messaging and social media tie-ins, crowdfynd allows users to tag exactly where they lost or found something, include a photo and post the item directly to the social network of their choice.Yet bringing Lost & Found to social media isn't all fun and games.

"We're part of a new wave of mobile apps," added Sebben. "It's not just about talking with your friends or playing games anymore, now it's about solving real world problems and real business problems, and that's what's coming around the corner and we're part of the front end of that."
