Liberty & Arts Institute Fundraiser An Awe-inspiring Success

Craft, food vendors, and arts and educational-based activities contribute to the evening's brilliant setting.

The educational institute that provides home school and tutoring services held a star and scholar-supported fundraiser in Atlanta last month. Phala Nazarine, Executive Director of Liberty & Arts Institute says that she is excited that the June 23, 2013 event held at 555 Whitehall Street pushed the organization closer to their financial and promotional goals.

Nazarine says that Liberty & Arts Institute, in collaboration with Black to Eden, will continue with the mission of increasing awareness, providing resources for youth and their families, and executing plans to raise money to deliver the curriculum for the Decatur, Georgia's educational facility.

The end of the event was just the beginning.

"We are very pleased with the turnout of youth and the adults in their lives," stated Phala Nazarine about the fundraiser. "Black to Eden & Liberty & Arts will continue to utilize the social networks to promote participation in organizing buses to take our message from Atlanta to Harlem, New York's Million Youth March in September."

The fundraiser featured a lecture and think tank, open mic, and poetry competition. Among the special guests and performers were speaker and author, Dr. Umar Johnson and Absoloot Boxing. Deli-style vegetarian and turkey meals and knock-out punch rhyming hosted by Nicky Love and Phala Nazarine.

Retail, craft, and food vendors, as well as a number of arts and educational-based activities, all contributed to the evening's brilliant setting.
