Leeds based digital agency, pixelbuilders.com, have been named winners of the first ever 'Virtual Business of the Year Awards 2010' and take a share of the £20,000 total prize and sponsorship money.

The young agency was formed just under 3 years ago by three Leeds students and services clients such as Albemarle & Bond PLC, EPS, CIBSE Yorkshire and NDL-Metascybe. The agency has recently celebrated becoming Gold Partners to international CMS development house, Kentico.

pixelbuilders.com were named on the shortlist for the awards just last month. The competition takes a two-part judging format with a combination of both open public votes and a judge's panel selecting the winners. The judges included Paul Birch (Co-founder of Bebo), Darren Fell (MD of online accountants Crunch) and PernilleBruun-Jensen (MD of Intuit UK).

The competition was aimed at rewarding young, fledgling companies that make progressive use of the web and technology in the way they operate, innovate and compete. Judges were specifically looking for "companies that can demonstrate how they have used the web in innovative ways to remain lean, efficient and competitive."

Martin Oates of pixelbuilders.com, said, "This is a great way to end a fantastic year for us. We've grown our team, expanded our client list and have been recognised as top-level partners to a world-renowned CMS developer. To have our efforts and results awarded in this way is the icing on the cake and a great Christmas present for the team!"
