Law Enforcement: Ja'Corey Ruffin, Hero

Ja'Corey Ruffin an American law enforcement officer in central Michigan, United States is being honored for his unselfish act of saving three toddlers that were trapped in an automobile.

According to the associated press Ruffin, who had just begun watch on the night of May 9, 2010, was patrolling his principal jurisdiction; when he noticed an automobile parked on the side of the road in the 3700 block of Freeman, which seemed to have had 'frosted windows' according to Ruffin.

Which he say is kind of odd for 2 AM.

"The first thought that I had, was that of someone is in the process of making surveillance on someones home, waiting to perform a B&E (Breaking Entering). So I immediately flipped my unit around and notified emergency dispatch that I would be performing a '11-54' - which is a suspicious vehicle."

Ruffin Continued

"While I do know that we are forbidden to make such scenes alone; I had a gut instinct which mandated that I act quickly, so I did. In doing so -I discovered three infants, all under the age of 16 months, and most likely triplets, who looked as if they had been sitting in this car for quite some time. I had no way of actually removing them from the vehicle because the car was obviously locked, but as a father, I knew I had to make an entrance. I quickly, but strategically made the proper entrance by breaking a frontside window, as that was my only option when it came to not injuring the children; from the glass of either of the back or front windshields.

Ruffin who was slightly injured requested medics to the scene, and the chilling aftermath is what got many people talking.

Lieutenant Ruffin and his wife has petitioned the court for adoption of all three children.

When contacted to comment, the department in which Ruffin is assigned to, say they are by no means shocked; they described Ja'Corey as a man of excellence, who puts his Christianity above everything.
