Mesothelioma, lung cancer and asbestosis are debilitating diseases, and affect victim's lives deeply.
Mesothelioma is a rare and very aggressive type of cancer that has been positively linked to exposure to asbestos. The disease can be fatal and affects the lining of the lung, the chest cavity or the abdomen. 2,000 to 3,000 cases of this type of cancer are diagnosed annually.

Asbestosis is a disease that causes scarring of the lungs. Both mesothelioma and asbestosis share similar symptoms, including severe chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing, fatigue and unexplained weight loss.

It's important to note that there is often a lengthy delay between exposure and the actual onset of the disease. Because symptoms of exposure sometimes take an extended period of time to present themselves, the latency period for mesothelioma and asbestosis cases is often between 20 and 50 years.

Keefe Bartels deals with cases where victims were exposed to asbestos in the 1950's and 1960's, but have only recently developed symptoms of exposure. Asbestos exposure in the US peaked in the 1970's. Medical professionals agree that diseases will continue to be a problem in patients for decades.

If you've been exposed to asbestos related products and are experiencing symptoms or have been diagnosed with asbestos related diseases, you do have legal options. You or your loved ones have the right to file a legal claim in order to cover the cost of your medical care, legal expenses and reimbursement for pain and suffering, loss of companionship or loss of advice or mentorship that was caused by asbestos exposure and disease.

At Keefe Bartels, we've been representing victims and their families for more than three decades. We are dedicated to fighting for your rights and are experts in asbestos litigation. If you've been diagnoses, remember that you have a limited amount of time to pursue litigation.
