InterContinental Asiana Saigon Welcomes the Internationally Well-known Coach - Mr. Alex McLeish.

Ho Chi Minh City, May 2013, InterContinental Asiana Saigon was delighted to welcome the internationally well-known coach Mr. Alex McLeish, who was the 16th national coach for Scotland.

Born in Glasgow, Mr. McLeish was a fixture in the Scotland national team for over a decade. He made his debut against Portugal in March 1980, and played for Scotland in the World Cup Finals in 1982, 1986 and 1990 before winning his 77th and final cap in February 1993. He was also a key player in the dominant Aberdeen side of the early 1980s, which won numerous trophies under Sir Alex Ferguson. The height of his success was reached with the European Cup Winners' Cup victory over Real Madrid in 1983, followed by the European Super Cup defeat of Hamburg later that year. After playing Alex McLeish went into management and had highly successful spells managing Glasgow Rangers, the Scotland national team and Birmingham City. During his time at Birmingham they defeated Arsenal to win the Carling Cup. His last post was as manager of Aston Villa.

During his first time visit to Vietnam, Mr. McLeish made the visit to the prestigious British International School (BIS) in District 2, Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. McLeish also went to the football pitch to conduct different training sessions with the students from BIS campuses including the boy teams and the girl teams of both primary and secondary grades. He was warmly welcomed by the eager group of students and spent around 40 minute session with each team to train them some of the techniques and tactics that he acquired from his successful career. "There's nothing that beats playing sport. When you play sport, it's not a catwalk where you perform individually. You will learn how to communicate with your teammates, to trust them and to work together as a team", Mr. McLeish shared with the students at the end of the session.
