Inside The Life Of A Connecticut Celebrity Makeup Artist

I always wanted to know what it would be like to be a celebrity makeup artist. I selected Celebrity Makeup Artist Brandy Gomez-Duplessis, a hidden gem that lives in Connecticut who works in the Tri-State area.

She could have selected anywhere to call home but she selected her new home to be in Danbury on the border of Brookfield in Candlewood Lake. The timing for moving to Danbury, Connecticut wasn't the best, on October 28th Gomez-Duplessis and her family were moving into their home the day Super-Storm Sandy was due to make landfall. With caution due to her experience with hurricanes, Gomez-Duplessis decided to go forward with their move. Gomez-Duplessis was in New Orleans in 2005 for Hurricane Katrina, so she knows what it's like to lose her home and her makeup studio. Even spending her first week in her new home with no power, no heat, a fallen tree on the house, and no phone service, she felt blessed because she didn't have any flooding.

Gomez-Duplessis said she fell in love with Danbury when she came to the area for a bride who was getting married at The Candlewood Inn. After seeing the spectacular view of the lake she flirted with the idea that she wanted to make this home. "Being able to see the lake year round from my home is worth the commute", Gomez-Duplessis said. She's been seen riding the Metro-North train to New York every day in her classic black industrial glam chic garb, pushing her sleek black L'OREAL Paris Tumi makeup kit. She spends her commute tweeting, listening to music, watching fashion videos, and answering emails.

On the day that I shadowed Brandy, she was up at 5am, starting with showering, drinking a Redbull, hair, makeup, clothing, then back to hair before heading to the train station. All done in 1 hour and 15 min on the dot getting her to Grand Central Terminal in time to take her subway to the Upper West side. She runs into a good friend, writer and beauty editor Tia Williams as she exits the train. They chat quickly then off she goes still giving her time to grab a large MojiTea from Argo Tea before heading up to her first client who she always enjoys working with: fashion photographer, illustrator, writer, and blogger Garance Dore. Second stop is to Harlem to do makeup on DJ & TV Personality Amanda Seales for her photoshoot. Next stop is to the Upper East Side to do a beauty event with L'OREAL Paris & Allure Magazine. Already at 13 hours, she still has energy to make one more stop before heading home. Dinner and drinks with friends at Michael Jordan's The Steak House N.Y.C. is always fun. She gets to unwind and come back to real life, well just a little as her girlfriends are also in the beauty, fashion and entertainment industry. As she sits on the train, she answers tons of emails, locks in more assignments, and takes a business call on the train commute home.

Since that day, Brandy Gomez-Duplessis has traveled back to New Orleans for a wedding, glam a few models at New York International Bridal Week, worked 2 more beauty events with L'OREAL Paris & Allure Magazine and has done makeup on a beauty segment with Johnny Lavoy for E News. What's next for Gomez-Duplessis? She kicks off May with doing a destination wedding in Jamaica. Now that's a peek to Inside The Life Of A Connecticut Celebrity Makeup Artist.
