January 29, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Deccan Herald talks about how School of Inspired Leadership (SOIL) is taking meaningful initiatives to build leaders with strong ethical foundation.
Here are some excerpts from Deccan Herald coverage:
School of Inspired Leadership (SOIL) also considers ethics as one of the five essential pillars of the curriculum. "We make all our students work for not-for profit organisations once a week throughout the year so that they innovate solutions to societal problems such as water shortage in Gurgaon, illiteracy and malnutrition," said Anil Sachdev, founder and CEO of SOIL.
Sachdev explained how the students are taken to an ashram in Himalayas every year to expose them to the hardships which a lot of people have to undergo. Twice a month, the college also invites the heads of spiritual organisations and NGOs who share their lives' experiences with the students.
Instilling ethics does not obliterate the main focus of learning at B-schools. "We teach them all the technical subjects but at the same time, we also tell them the most ethical way to practise the same. For instance, in the times of financial pressures, we apprise them of the most ethical thing to do — whether it is to fire the junior-most employees of the company or to cut the cost of raw material. The same way, during branding of the company, we teach them how ethical is it to tell the half-truths about the company," said Sachdev.
SOIL is a business school that aims to build competent, compassionate and inspiring leaders. The institute offers 1 year Post Graduate Programs in Management (PGPM) for training in Business Leadership, HR Leadership and Marketing Leadership for working professionals as well as graduates. SOIL nurtures students in an environment to enable them to know who they are, recognize their purpose and realize their full potential, to build organizations of consequence. SOIL recently won the SHRM 'Game Changer' Academic Institute of the Year (For contribution to the field of HR) award for 2013!
