Indianapolis Colts Head Coach Chuck Pagano Signs Up to Lead Cancer Walk with Olivia Newton-John

On May 3, 2014, Indianapolis Colts Head Coach Chuck Pagano and his wife Tina will join Olivia Newton-John in leading the Pink and Blue for Two (PB42) "walk within the Mini" to help promote and raise awareness for the organization.

As head coach of the Indianapolis Colts and a cancer "thriver," Chuck Pagano's 2012 season proved to be one of the most inspirational stories in NFL history. Named head coach of the Indianapolis Colts on January 25, 2012, Pagano was forced to take a leave of absence just three games into the season after being diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia, a curable form of the disease, which is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow cells. Pagano underwent treatment, pushed through grueling rounds of chemotherapy, and beat cancer.

"When I was approached to take part in the PB42 walk in Indy, I was honored," said Pagano. "With the support of my family, the team and fans everywhere, I beat cancer. The PB42 campaign embraces that spirit, and women need to break through to the men in their lives and get them to step up."

"Having read stories of the coach's battle with cancer, we discovered that it was his wife (Tina) that broke through the coach's tough guard and got him to the doctor to get checked. By following his wife's advice, the cancer was found, and the coach got a second chance at life. That is exactly the message that PB42 is promoting ... early detection saves lives. Screen together, live together," said Charity Co-Founder Emerson Newton-John.

"I am thrilled to have Coach Chuck and his wife Tina leading the PB42 Cancer Awareness Walk at the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon," said Olivia Newton-John. "We cannot think of a better Indy-based couple to lead this walk with us representing Pink and Blue. We hope that the city and its loyal NFL fans embrace PB42 and will stand with us together to bring the desperately needed attention to the 'blue' (prostate) side of the PB42 campaign."

Pink and Blue for Two's mission is threefold: to raise awareness of the striking similarities between breast and prostate cancers, urge couples to remind one another to do their annual screenings, and educate people on the importance of overall mind, body and spirit wellness.
