Specialist wholesale billing and settlement solutions vendor i-conX solutions has announced that Bangladesh International Gateway Limited (BIGL) is the latest customer to enter live use with its interconnect billing solution.
January 14, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The i-conX system was successfully deployed by i-conX engineers, as an onsite licensed installation at the company premises in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
BIGL is a subsidiary of USD $2.2bn Bangladeshi conglomerate Sunman Group, whose portfolio also includes leading WiMAX operator Banglalion. The company was awarded its new IGW license in 2012 by Bangladeshi regulator BTRC, who imposed demanding timescales for commercial launch. BIGL sought to select an internationally recognised interconnect billing solution that could manage the complex Bangladesh telecoms market with speed, efficiency and accuracy.
BIGL are responsible for managing international voice traffic flowing in and out of the country, channelling traffic to and from the ASN carriers via locally based ICX (national transit) carriers as part of a process that is unique to the Bangladesh telecoms market.
As a condition of the license award, BTRC imposed a number of demanding reporting requirements, with which all operators were expected to comply before live launch could take place. These covered a number of critical areas such as accredited audit control and the requirement to supply BTRC with data in order to define tax payments. Such requirements are seamlessly delivered via the i-conX Reporting Services suite, delivered as standard with the main i-conX billing product.
