Hilliker Corporation Assists Doctor, Wife In Cooking Up Deals

Real estate firm represents entrepreneurs in four downtown St. Louis property purchases.

Hilliker Corporation, a St. Louis owned and managed commercial real estate company, knows how to help cook up deals in the city's downtown area.

Hilliker broker Patrick McKay recently represented buyer P&F Properties, which is owned by serial entrepreneurs Dr. Daniel Cook and wife Anne Leners, for the fourth time with this latest purchase. Cook's company has already leased the first floor of the 9,000-square-foot retail and office building located at 412 N. Tucker. The company paid $215,000 for the 100-year-old building which was the previous home of 12th Street Animal Hospital & Boutique, a veterinary clinic and pet day care center.

Daniel J. Cook, MD is a St. Louis anesthesiologist who also created Cookgas, which is operated from one of his own properties located at 1101 Lucas. The company sells a variety of intubating products utilized during surgery that Cook both researched and developed

One of P&F Properties' most well-known purchases was the nearly 17,000-square-foot building at 1010 Locust St. It was built in 1886 and served as the area's historic Bride's House location. The building is scheduled for completion in Nov. of 2013.

"My wife and I are from Iowa, but we thought investing in downtown St. Louis would be good," said Cook. "We believe we are helping to stimulate the economy, which we feel is the right thing to do."

Hilliker Corporation, which targets regional and national entrepreneurs, is St. Louis' largest locally owned independent commercial real estate company located at 2001 S. Hanley Rd. The firm's agents, who each average over 15 years of experience, have completed more than 10,000 sales and leases for industrial, office, retail and institutional clients since its inception in 1985.
