HealthSPORT Fortuna Gymnastics Scores Personal Bests in Bay Area
This Humboldt gymnastics team did well at the Novato Classic and a few members will join the state competition later in the spring.
Online, March 28, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The HealthSPORT Fortuna Gymnastics team had a great showing at the Novato Classic in the North Bay area on March 14. Although facing their toughest competition of the season, most of the team scored personal bests in the All-Around category.
All four Level 2 gymnasts improved their scores on every routine in every event. Trinity Browning, 8, had a great competition, earning 1st on vault (9.3), 3rd on floor (9.1) and 3rd in the All-Around (35.9).
Level 3 gymnast Cadence Lommori, 10, had a strong showing as well, scoring a 9.5 on vault and bars plus her best All-Around (36.625) - good enough for 5th place. Rosalie Gonzalez, 12, competed in Level 3 and received a 34.5 in the All-Around, which qualifies her for the state competition in April. Level 3 gymnast Estella Campise, 8, improved her scores on every event and won an award for best hair.
Level 4 gymnast Saige Grundman, 10, had her best meet yet, earning a spot at the state competition with a 2nd place All-Around score of 34.775. She won the floor event with a score of 9.15 and received 2nd on beam (8.9).
The Level 5 gymnasts continue to improve with every competition. Katie Hurst, 13, won bars with a 9.425 and received 5th place in the All-Around with a score of 35.45. Mackenzie Hall, 12, won the floor event with a 9.475, received 3rd on beam (8.975) and the All-Around (36.325).
"It is great to see the girls improving at every competition," said Coach Andrea Knight. "Five girls have qualified for the state competition in April, and we can't wait to go and bring home some medals."
