Harry Seah To Address UPW Asia 2011

Registration is open for UPW Asia, which is scheduled July 6-7 in Singapore. The 2-day meeting will be co-located at Singapore International Water Week. UPW Asia is focused on the business and technologies tied to high-purity water treatment.

ULTRAPURE WATER Asia 2011 (UPW Asia) will feature several speakers who will examine the water business in Asia and trends in high-purity water. Registration is open for the July 6-7 conference will be co-located at Singapore International Water Week that will be conducted at the Suntec Exhibition Centre here.

UPW Asia will feature a keynote address by Mr. Harry Seah on water development in Singapore. His presentation will be part of the Water Business Forum the morning of Wednesday, July 6. Mr. Seah is the director of the Technology and Water Quality Office in the Singapore PUB.

The conference will open July 6, with a presentation by Mr. Alan Knapp of Siemens Industry Inc. Water Technologies on "Future Trends and Needs in High-Purity Water Treatment". Mr. Mehbub Khan of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies will follow with a look at Asian water business opportunities in microelectronics and photovoltaics. Mr. Chris Sacksteder, the strategic marketing manager for industrial water/power/UPW at Dow Water and Process solutions will examine the topic of "Asian Water Business Trends." The Water Business Forum will wrap up with a presentation by Mr. Mike Henley, editor of ULTRAPURE WATER journal, who will review the market sizes of the principal high-purity water markets-power generation, semiconductor manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals.

The UPW Technology Forum the afternoon of Wednesday, July 6, and Thursday, July 7, will feature presentations on key high-purity water treatment technologies by experts. Presentations in the session will examine topics such as UV Oxidation, Membranes, Boron Analysis, Ultrafiltration, Degassing Membranes, Sodium and Trace Element Measurement, and Micromedia Filtration. These topics will address high-purity water treatment concerns in the semiconductor, power generation, and pharmaceutical industries.

In addition to these technology presentations, audience members will also be able to learn more of work in the water field in Singapore. Mr. Ong Guo Rong of the Singapore PUB will speak on at efforts in Singapore to conserve industrial water.

In the UPW Technology Forum, Mr. Mionisio Visintin of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies Italia will begin the UPW Technology Forum will a presentation on a new approach for making Water for Injection. Dr. Richard Woodling of Siemens Pte. Ltd. will speak on the use of UV Oxidation with Persulfate applications in microelectronics and pharmaceutical water.

Mr. Rick Godec of GE Instruments will address the use of Boron Analysis to prevent the release of nano materials that can deplete ion exchange beds. Other speakers at the conference will include Dr. Stefan Huber of DOC-Labor, Mr. Yasushi Maeda of Dow Chemical, Mr. Fred Wiesler of Membrana, Dr. Uri Levy of Atlantium, Mr. Morris Teo of SWAN, Mr. Gareth Thomas of Back on Track, Mr. Paul Tan of GE Water, Mr. Davis Arifin of Siemens Water, Mr. Ronald Wen-Jung Chang of Dow Chemical, and Mr. Toshi Hamada of Nitto Denko.

Those who attend UPW Asia 2011 can expect to learn more about the high-purity water business. Other takeaways from the conference will include water industry trends, greater knowledge about important technologies used in high-purity water treatment, and water technology developments.

This will be the fifth conference ULTRAPURE WATER has conducted in Singapore. Previous conferences were conducted in 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2006 in conjunction with Singapore Utilities International.
