Spring Blossoms for Mom
Silver bell trees, yellow poplars, tulip poplars, dogwoods, black locust, and hawthorns- tourists that visit the North Georgia Mountains in spring see the largest number and the most beautiful blooming trees! One of the first spring trees to flower is the silver bell tree. The silver bell is a small tree with white bell-shaped flowers and is sprouting throughout the southern Appalachian region. Another flower that is apparent in the springtime is the yellow or tulip poplar and is one of the tallest hardwoods in this range. An additional beauty is the showy white or pink flowered dogwood tree which bloom throughout May. Dogwood is considered by many gardeners to be one of the most beautiful trees with sweeping branches that rise slightly at the ends. Be on the lookout for black locust with sweet-smelling white flowers as well. Finally, hawthorns are a sight to behold with clusters of small white flowers.
