Once upon a time, somewhere in the seventies, a certain Mr Kayamali Charania ran a humble store of dog leashes in busy old Crawford Market. Soon after, he took up a demure Sanjay Jadhav under his wing and made quality nylon, leather and choke belts his store's specialty. Gradually, dog chews and dry food were added, and by 1980, the very own brand of Charania's was in place, named Kennel Doggy Articles, followed then was the launch of his first exclusive retail pet shop, Shake Hands. Whether or not he knew that two more successful stores were to be added to his kitty (the millennium saw the second of its store in Colaba, and the third one, in Tardeo, in 2011) one thing was very certain, Shake Hands was here to stay! Now, with Charania's son, Amirali joining the trio, the family business has strengthened and grown leaps and bounds.
