Georgetown Shell Auto Repair Celebrates Successful First Year Of Business On The Corner Of Wisconsin And Q Sts, NW
Georgetown Shell, located at 1576 Wisconsin Ave NW, in Washington DC, celebrated their first full year in business earlier this month. They brought this vibrant DC corner back to life after a 2011 fire closed a previous business.
March 22, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Georgetown Shell, located at the corner of Wisconsin Ave and Q St NW, celebrated their first full year providing Georgetown auto repair in DC earlier this month.
In 2011, fire gutted and closed a previously-owned auto repair service at 1576 Wisconsin Ave NW, after which the business was put on the market. The building remained vacant for two years before a new owner came along, completed a full renovation and opened Georgetown Shell on March 15, 2013.
Fast forward a year and the corner, today, is bustling with a steady stream of cars and customers. While it can take time for a new business to come to the public's attention, Georgetown Shell started out on the right foot by investing in a first-class website and making sure that they would be found, when people went searching online for a place they could trust for car repair in DC.
According to Service Manager and ASE Certified Master Technician, Bobby Ladson, "Lots of our customers find us first online and then bring their cars in for an oil change, tire rotation or something simple. It's like a first date. They get to check us out and they must like what they find because almost everyone has become a regular since then. Our Yelp reviews are terrific. It's been a great first year here and we're really excited to head into year two."
The other members of the Georgetown Shell team include ASE Master Technician, Abe Elias; mechanic, William Monterosso (currently completing requirements for ASE certification), and Nana Gomez, the friendly face of customer service.
"We're a little like a family, here," says Ladson. "We all love what we do and we really enjoy working together. That gives the place a great vibe and customers take right to that. Makes it fun." Ladson, with his silvering ponytail, a great big and slightly crooked grin, and a twinkle in his eye, enjoys people; it shows. Whether he is behind the service counter or has his head under the hood of a car while he consults with one of the crew, his love of this business shines through.
With over 25 years of experience in a variety of east coast locations, when asked what has stood out for him this year in Georgetown, Ladson doesn't hesitate for a second: "The people. The neighborhood. There is such a great mix of long-time residents, students [from nearby Georgetown University], commuters and visitors. They've all warmed up to us and we return the same."
Auto repair at Georgetown Shell is for all makes and models of vehicles, foreign and domestic including hybrid. Ladson has a personal passion, though, and his own car offers a hint.
There was a period of years prior to coming to DC, when he specialized in work on hot rods and high-performance vehicles. Today customers and friends can tell when he's at the shop because they recognize his gleaming and souped up 2010 Dodge Challenger out front. Just ask Bobby about his car and he'll be glad to tell you all about the extras he's put into it and even tell you which ones can be added to almost any vehicle.
Georgetown Shell is open for auto repair and maintenance service Monday through Saturday. Appointments can be made online at www.georgetownshell.com or by calling 202-965-1999. Of course, you can always stop by or get towed in with an emergency. Bobby and the team will be ready for you.
