Elementary School Entrepreneurs Put Real Business Skills to the Test

The BizWorld Foundation, a national nonprofit dedicated to teaching entrepreneurship, finance and business skills to children will be holding a special BizWorld Challenge competition at Woodside Elementary School this Saturday (May 11th).

The BizWorld Foundation is holding the inaugural BizWorld Challenge competition for four Silicon Valley elementary schools. This experience will bring BizWorld alumni together from Harker Elementary in San Jose, Woodside Elementary in Woodside, North Star Academy in Redwood City and Roosevelt Elementary in Redwood City, where students' real world business skills will be put to the test. The BizWorld Challenge will have students working in teams to turn around a failing company. Assuming the roles of business executives, they will design, manufacture, market and sell original products, all the while receiving positive encouragement and guidance from Silicon Valley business leaders. The event also offers opportunities for attendees to interact with the teams and cheer on the winning school.

"The BizWorld Challenge will showcase the life-changing skills BizWorld alumni have developed and how they can apply those skills in real life situations," states Jim Steele, Chief Customer Officer of Salesforce.com and BizWorld Challenge Judge, "I look forward to seeing first-hand the next innovative leaders Silicon Valley will produce."

"The BizWorld Foundation is proud to bring together our first all-alumni event," states Catherine Markwell, CEO of the BizWorld Foundation. "The BizWorld program teaches important business and entrepreneurship skills and The Challenge will put these skills to the test."

The event is free of charge and all the community is welcome to attend and see 9-11 year olds become presidents and vice presidents of industry. One business savvy team will carry home the BizWorld Challenge cup.
