The Cole Porter Festival is June 11-13 in his birthplace of Peru, Indiana. Cole Porter's contribution to music is astounding. He wrote over 900 songs, many for movies in the Golden Age of Hollywood as well as Broadway shows. Despite the fact that he died a half century ago, his songs are still extremely popular. In fact, recently two were on American Idol and Dancing with the Stars, and one is in the new movie Sex and the City 2! www.coleporterfestival.org

Those who enjoyed the Indy 500, will also want to explore the Indiana 500, a newly designated trail taking visitors from the main roads to the back roads to experience the unique art, culture and heritage of Indiana, especially its rich automotive history like the legendary Winchester Speedway, "the Fastest 1/2 mile track in the World" in Winchester as well as the home of the inventor of America's First Car in Kokomo, and the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum in Auburn. (Duesenbergs were popular with royalty like the Duke of Windsor, and movie stars like Clark Gable, Gary Cooper, Mae West and Greta Garbo. Even Al Capone drove one.)
