DEL Ozone Announces An Alliance With Trident Ultraviolet To Build AOP Systems

DEL Ozone, the technology leader for residential pool sanitation, announces an alliance with Trident Ultraviolet to build Advanced Oxidation Process sanitation systems for consumer applications.

DEL Ozone announces the formation of a strategic alliance with Trident Ultraviolet Corporation, a division of Trident Group USA, Ltd., to develop small Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) systems for consumer applications. DEL Ozone and Trident Ultraviolet are the industry leaders for ozone and UV sanitation respectively, with established markets worldwide.

The combination of ozone and germicidal UV light can form the basis for an Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) system. AOP systems are characterized by the generation of hydroxyl free radicals (•OH), the most powerful oxidizer available that is safe for human water quality applications. One of the known AOP methods is to feed ozone through a UV light field, triggering a chemical reaction that produces hydroxyl free radicals. This in turn leads to the oxidation of organic and inorganic contaminants in treated water, ending with the complete destruction of the contaminants.

Most prior AOP applications have been large-scale installations for the tertiary treatment of wastewater. Their utility is limited by the high costs of both capital investment and operations.

Based on DEL Ozone's innovative Advanced Plasma Gap ozone generator (patent pending), DEL and Trident will be able to engineer AOP systems small enough for consumer applications. The Advanced Plasma Gap ozonator is a solid-state device that provides the most reliable ozone output available for small systems, with low energy demand. Coupled with high quality low-pressure ultraviolet lamps from Trident, these small AOP systems will provide the highest disinfection potential possible in an energy efficient package.

Gary Rochelle, President of Trident Ultraviolet, says We at Trident expect a great response to the innovative AOP systems DEL Ozone is engineering, and it's a pleasure to work with a company as good as our own to bring these products to market.

Trident Ultraviolet Corporation makes UV sanitation systems designed specifically for swimming pools, ponds, spas, water features, and fountains. The company has a full line of UV sanitizers built in the United States for water treatments of different sizes. Trident is based in Marina del Rey, California.
