David Weitzman, the artist behind KA-Gold Jewelry, has initiated the second part of his tree-planting project in tandem with organizations that strive for a greener and more sustainable earth. He recently launched The Songs of the Woods Pendant and every profit earned from the sale of this ecological pendant will go to the planting of trees.

Three years ago, his Mother Earth Eco Jewelry Campaign resulted in the planting of more than 30,000 trees through Tree for the Future Organization. This year, Weitzman hopes to double the number of trees to be planted through the sales profits of The Songs of the Woods pendant. He believes that it is critical to stop deforestation and to enjoin everyone to start planting trees for the future generations.

Trees have always had an affinity with Weitzman. He spent most of his childhood days in his grandparents' house which was surrounded by trees. He learned from his grandfather the importance of preserving nature.

The Songs of the Woods pendant's intention is to develop a deep appreciation and connection to nature and trees. The essence of this eco jewelry is based on an ancient Jewish belief that perceives trees as relevant to the continuity of the human race and that trees are crucial in the bond between the earth and its inhabitants. This tradition is indicative of an altruistic view that perceives trees as conduits for divine and sacred communication. Through these trees, humanity is forever linked and influential to the world.

Engraved in The Songs of the Wood pendant is a Hebrew phrase from Rabbi Nachman of Breslov. It says:

"Each grass has its own tune, and from the tune of the grasses, the song of the shepherd is made".

David Weitzman hopes that The Songs of the Woods project will be more successful in order to help more "green organizations" in achieving their goal of planting more trees.
