He also apprised them with how dataserv has already launched an important initiative aimed at alleviating the situation by introducing door step collection of waste from electrical and electronic equipment.

Following the presentation, members of RWA's and students present at the conference signed a pledge to act as responsible citizens of the society and ethically recycle the waste from electrical and electronic equipment generated in the community or school with the support of dataserv APAC's free pickup and recycling services. They all displayed a strong commitment towards environment sustainability by working jointly on management of end of the life electrical and electronic equipment.

Speaking on the issue of effective e-waste management, Mr. Amit Sardana, MD, dataserv APAC, said, "At dataserv APAC we believe that the very first step towards responsible disposal of waste from electrical and electronic equipment is awareness. Unless people will understand the implications of improper disposal of e-waste they will not be motivated to ensure ethical and environmentally friendly disposal. As a next step we introduced a free pick up and recycling service for all residents and corporates of Gurgaon. After seeing the enthusiastic response of all stakeholders in signing the pledge, I am hopeful that the e-waste menace can be effectively managed with their cooperation."

All the sessions of the CII Conference witnessed intense deliberations on the Road map for every segment of Society and urged them to do their bit for a sustainable tomorrow. Focus on Green Growth is no longer an option but a reality that everyone needs to realize and this was the key message of the conference. Along with this, practical steps to achieve the same were also discussed.

This conference was an initiative by CII to help the Industry, Education Sector and Society to discuss this important issue.
