Creation of Gamfed, International Gamification Confederation

Created by Actiplay (ConcoursMania Group) with 3 other founding members in Europe, GamFed (International Gamification Confederation) will promote the gamification market as well as unite members globally and facilitate exchanges amongst members.

« Gaming mechanics applied to other fields, Gamification, has grown exponentially since 2008. An industry is born with various job specific applications with very strong potential as experts and analysts show us. The creation of GamFed is to support this dynamic industry and to help structure the market», stated Nicolas Babin, Actiplay Managing Director and GamFed Secretary.

GamFed's main mission is to structure and promote the market whilst federating its members, best practices, publishing studies and analyses of the market. GamFed will also offer courses about Gamification and a portal where job offers will be displayed. GamFed main headquarters is in London (England).

GamFed's first actions in 2013 will be to publish white papers. It will also organise breakfast sessions with journalists, analysts and people interested on the subject regularly. These sessions will happen in San Francisco, London, Paris, Munich, Istanbul and Warsaw. GamFed will also start GamFed Wednesdays once a month. People will meet in a casual way to start building a community and share experiences around the gamification subject.

Many companies such as SAP, worldwide technology leader in the enterprise management software, the University of Hamburg as well as the Polish gamification platform provider, Any7 sp have shown interest in becoming members of GamFed.

"Gamification is a way to take enterprises from good to great. GamFed gathers leading industry players to share the best practices that have achieved great results." added Toby Beresford, Chairman GamFed and CEO Leaderboarded.

About Gamification According to Wikipedia, Gamification refers to service design aiming to provide game-like experiences. In practice gamification commonly applies to non-game applications and processes. Gamification's proponents argue that it works by making technology more engaging, by encouraging users to engage in desired behaviors, by showing a path to mastery and autonomy, by helping to solve problems and being more engaging, and by taking advantage of humans' psychological predisposition to engage in gaming. Available data from gamified websites, applications, and processes indicate potential improvements in areas such as user engagement, ROI, data quality, timeliness, and learning.

According to M2 Research analysts in San Diego (US), Gamification is growing from a hype into a significant business opportunity for gamification platform providers. M2 Research forecasts the market in 2012 to reach $242 million and climb to $2.8 billion by 2016. Enterprise gamification is
quickly gaining share of the overall gamification market and is set to capture 38% of gamification revenue in 2012. In 2013, enterprise gamification will exceed consumer gamification revenue.
