Chemplast Sanmar Limited Receives First Prize In Ficci Safety Excellence Systems Awards 2012 From Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Union Minister For Labour & Employm

Chemplast Sanmar Limited (PVC Plant), Metturdam unit received the Platinum award for its best safety systems under the medium size category of FICCI Safety Excellence System Awards 2012. The award was received by Mr. Ramkumar Shankar, Executive Director, Chemplast Sanmar Limited from Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Hon'ble Union Minister for Labour & Employment.

FICCI Safety Excellence Systems award is given in recognition of outstanding systems in safety adopted by a manufacturing unit. The focus in the awards is more on the presence of robust safety systems in the organization rather than the performance. FICCI received applications from one hundred fifteen units across the country for these awards in sectors like automotive, chemical, electronics, heavy engineering, textiles, cement, steel etc. These awards were shortlisted after a rigorous three-stage process of evaluating safety application forms; on-site audit and finally the Hon'ble Jury's wisdom. The Jury consisted of Dr. R Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Advisor to Govt. of India; Mr. Surendra Singh, Former Cabinet Secretary; Mr. Sompal, Former Minister of Agriculture and Member of Parliament; Mr. Rohit Relan, Managing Director, Bharat Seats Limited; and Mr. Shyam Bang, Executive Director, Jubilant Life Sciences Limited.

Awards were given in three categories namely; Large category with a turnover of above Rupees five hundred crores; Medium Category with a turnover between Rupees hundred and five hundred crores; and Small category with a turnover less than Rupees hundred crores. The objective of these awards is to encourage manufacturers to adopt best safety practices and build robust safety systems in their organization.
