Careington International Corporation and its employees will proudly participate in an annual 5K charity event hosted by Military Justice League benefiting the Families of World War II Veterans and Hounds and Heroes.

Careington's CEO Barbara Williams, whose father is a World War II veteran, founded and currently chairs the Families of World War II Veterans, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization founded in 2010. Families of World War II Veterans is dedicated to honoring the heroic legacies of WWII veterans and other individuals involved in WWII efforts and does so through its scholarship program. In its first year, the organization awarded 12 scholarships to undergraduate and post-graduate students and awarded eight the second year.

Each year, this organization hosts an event to help meet its scholarship award goal. This year, on December 7, 2013, in commemoration of Pearl Harbor Day, the organization will benefit from a celebrity 5K fun run. The Bonnie-Jill Laflin Celebrity 5K Fun Run will begin at Fort Worth's Meacham Airport and will end at the city's historic Vintage Flying Museum.

Honorees of the morning will include local World War II veterans who will attend along with other featured celebrities like event namesake Bonnie-Jill Laflin, who will be onsite signing autographs.

"It is the mission of Military Justice League to help raise funds for charities that support veterans and returning military families," said Timothy "TK" Klund, co-creator of the Military Justice League and a United States Air Force veteran. "We feel like this event, and the festivities surrounding it, will not only help raise money for two very worthy organizations, but will be an appropriate celebration of all military veterans."

Careington's CEO Barbara Williams echoed Klund's enthusiasm about the event, saying, "It's opportunities like this - when you see people of all generations come together to show their support of our veterans and to honor this passing generation - that continue to give Families of World War II Veterans and its initiatives purpose and meaning. It's truly rewarding to be part of this celebration of our nation's heroes."

In addition to Barbara's role as founder and chair, fellow Careington colleagues serving on the organization's board include Dr. Martin J. Rinker, DMD, Melissa Baumann, Stewart Sweda and Sean Loving.

As a show of the company's proud and proactive support of Families of World War II Veterans, many of Careington's employees will participate in this 5K event to show ongoing support of this very worthwhile cause. Careington clients are also contributing to the effort with corporate sponsorships totaling thousands of dollars.
