What is the role?
The Director of Media Strategy’s primary responsibility is to ensure retention of Newswire’s Media Advantage Program clients at Newswire, reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer as the business unit manager. The Director of Media Strategy helps support the Sales team to research prospects, conduct pre-sales discovery and ensure proper expectations around deliverables are set. The Director oversees the handoff of clients from sales to delivery and maintains relationships throughout the engagement to ensure satisfaction, value creation and that all reporting and production milestones are met.
Role and Responsibilities
Conduct needs analysis and company research in order to develop a last page executive summary, contract deliverables, and client expectation setting as part of a pre-sales function.
Assist the sales team in meeting their goals for new Media Advantage Platform sales each month.
Coordination of client onboarding, setting and running handoff calls, client kickoff calls and monitoring client deliverables.
Monitor and participate in client performance calls and client education each quarter.
Monitor all project plans to ensure timely delivery
Conduct client surveys and maintain executive contact with all clients.
Ensure timely reassessments are performed, proposals are created for renewals and client retention goals are met.
Ensure payments are addressed in a timely manner
Ensure timely and accurate renewal forecasts are achieved each month and each quarter.
Work with Regional Sales Directors to achieve regional quotas for customer retention, renewals, upgrades, and unit sales
Ensure client satisfaction by leveraging third party review platforms in a systematic way
As requested and required by the executive team additional duties will include media pitching, partnership management, hiring and training
Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing, sales or related
5-7 years’ experience in public relations, communications, sales or related integrated marketing
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup environment
Experience in an agency environment is a plus
Experience managing contracts
Experience writing press releases and editorial content is a plus
Media, marketing, sales and account management experience
Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to produce quality work under tight deadlines
Experience with project and client management
Experience with data management, campaign analytics and performance insights
Experience managing and developing teams
Experience liaising with internal stakeholders and executive leaders, C-suite
Knowledge of CRM systems
Ability to develop and implement processes, reporting and use to provide analysis and plans to the executive team.
