Asidua Announces WanStaX Support of PMC's New WinPath4 Mobile Backhaul Processor

Asidua's WanStaX control plane software portfolio now supports PMC's new WinPath4 mobile backhaul processor; enabling both WanStaX and WinPath to provide OpenFlow Support for SDN Environments

Asidua, the technology solutions company, has today announced that their WanStaX control plane software portfolio now supports PMC's new WinPath4 mobile backhaul processor; enabling both WanStaX and WinPath to provide OpenFlow Support for SDN Environments.

Specifically optimised for seamless evolution of radio networks from 2G and 3G to LTE, WinPath4's Carrier Ethernet Router-on-Chip architecture integrates Layer 2 switch and Layer 3 router functionality. This allows system vendors to provide intelligence and drive product differentiation with new platforms that are Layer 3 capable to support the transition to an all-IP mobile backhaul.

Asidua's WanStaX portfolio allows the power and flexibility of WinPath4 to be harnessed and deployed in working solutions in the shortest possible timeframe, and now includes interfaces supporting the OpenFlow standard, thus enabling WanStaX and WinPath to enable SDN-ready network equipment.

Making the announcement at the Linley Group Carrier Conference in Santa Clara, Asidua's Chief Executive Steve Brankin said: "We are pleased to be able to continue Asidua's long association with PMC's leading WinPath® backhaul processor family by announcing WanStaX support for WinPath4. The PMC/Asidua partnership has allowed us to develop technologies which dovetail perfectly and provide highly flexible and easily integrated solutions for equipment providers creating systems for fast evolving, high performance networks".

Eddie Millsopp, Head of Asidua's Telecommunications Systems Division commented: "WanStaX is the perfect complement to WinPath4, as it contains all the control plane features necessary in particular to allow parallel working of TDM, Pseudowire and all-IP networks, easing the development of transformable mobile backhaul networks. The WanStaX OpenFlow interface makes production of systems ready for deployment in an SDN environment easy."

Babak Samimi, Vice President of Marketing and Applications for PMC's Communications Business Unit added: "PMC has worked in partnership with Asidua across several generations of our WinPath franchise. Asidua's WanStaX is optimized to leverage WinPath4's flexible and programmable architecture and helps our customers deliver differentiated products and respond to emerging requirement like SDN as the mobile network evolves."
