AIM, Delhi Hosted International Conference On Leveraging Information Technology For Competitive Advantage

2day conference engaged national and international participants from industry and academia

Asia-Pacific Institute of Management (AIM) organized ICIT'13, a 2 day International conference on "Leveraging Information Technology for Competitive Advantage" on Feb 21 & 22 in its Jasola campus. The conference was aimed at providing a focal forum for active researchers, industry practitioners, industrial professionals and academicians from diversified domains in Information Technology and to share latest research achievements and practical experiences. Intended to delineate the greatest challenges faced with the businesses and society at large, this conference was attended by more than 200 delegates representing over 150 companies/organizations/institutions from countries like United States of America, UK, Sweden, Cameroon, Canada, Uganda and Bangladesh. Dr. B K Murthy, Director - CDAC, Noida was the Chief Guest while Mr. D K Bakshi, CEO, Global Talent Consultants Co. Ltd., Bangkok, Thailand was the Guest of Honor of the inaugural programme.

It is noteworthy that the recent advances in information technology, combined with the rapid evolution in smart appliances and devices, generate new challenges and problems to the present day information society. At the same time these advancements equips the society with information and helps bring nearer to the system which has helped immensely in the retail and banking sector. If integrated properly, these advancements may also help governments in rolling out their public services more efficiently and give far-fetching results.

Dr. Daniel J. Power, Professor, University of Northern Iowa, USA and a well-known expert, Researcher and Academician in the field of 'Information Technology', said in his key-note speech "The capacity of IT contributes to the growth of enterprises. Several studies of international medium-sized companies show that the capacity of IT has a close correlation with the growth of the cost-effectiveness of the organizations. IT promotes the growth of organizations, in diverse ways, for diverse industries."

Dr. D. K. Batra, Director, AIM, added, "IT is critical to the growth of business because it provides the organisations with scalability, the ability to successfully manage the increase in the complexity of the organization and its processes and business model. Academics and professionals struggle to understand the way in which IT affects the performance of the companies, in order to find out systematic correlation between investment in IT and the company's performance."

The Conference featured keynote presentations by prominent researchers in the field, paper review sessions and poster presentations, be panel discussions, workshops and exhibits. The conference received over 100 research papers and articles for presentations. The conference was supported by Cache Infotech, Enriched Publications, NEN, ICEIT and SERD. Chief Guest for the valedictory session was Mr. T A Khan, Controller of Certifying Authorities, Govt of India and Guest of honour was Dr. R G Gupta, Chair, IEEE - India Council, New Delhi. Best three papers were presented during the conference were awarded with cash prizes. First Best Paper Cash award was given to P. Vidhyalakshmi for her work on Cloud Computing Security. Second Best Papers judged in the conference was by Prof. J B Singh on Intellectual Property Rights for Softwares. Third prize was give to Dr. Dilip K Banerjee & Supriya Gupta for their research on Pair Programming.

Conference Director Dr. Vikas Kumar and organizing team consisting of Dr. Saurabh Mittal (Convener), Dr. Ashutosh, Prof. Devendra Bahadur and Dr. C P Somasundaran thanked all the delegates from various parts of the world for attending the conference and their support to make it a grand success. The research papers presented in the conference are also published in form of a book, edited by Dr. Vikas Kumar and Dr. Saurabh Mittal. The book was released in the valedictory session by the Chief Guest- Mr. T A Khan, Guest of Honour- Dr. R G Gupta, APIM Chairman- Mr. A K Shrivastava, Director- Dr. D K Batra and Conference Director- Dr. Vikas Kumar.
