A Teich School Garden Wins Over RCCA

Teich Garden Systems LLC announced the completion of a garden at Ross Corners Christian Academy (RCCA) in Vestal, New York. The garden was the grand prize in a nationwide contest sponsored by Stonyfield Farm and their Yo Kids brand held in connection with the release of Dr. Seuss' "The Lorax" in theaters earlier this year. Mercy Singer won the grand prize and her son, Gregory, is a kindergartener at RCAA. The garden will provide a platform to give kids hands-on learning about where food comes from and to improve their nutritional knowledge.

Stonyfield's "Sweetitude Dude" and TGS's Farmer Brian joined students from RCCA who planted tomatoes, zucchini, squash, eggplant, cucumbers, bush beans, peppers and basil. Even a little bit of rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of the students as they were able to get their hands dirty and enjoy Stonyfield yogurt on their last day of school.

"I think the kids will enjoy planting it and hopefully they will be able to use the food that grows from it to have healthier lunches," said Mercy Singer.

Cady Roberts, Associate Brand Manager for YoBaby/YoKids , noted "We are thrilled to award Mercy and RCCA an organic garden filled with fruits and vegetables that the students will be able to enjoy for years to come. It's so important for everyone, especially kids, to learn where healthy food comes from because they'll enjoy it more. TGS did a fantastic job with the garden, we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful garden for our YoKids sweepstakes winner."

Mark Teich, founder of TGS, added, "We are gratified to be working with Stonyfield Farm to design and install the garden at RCCA. We know that Stonyfield is making a long-term impact on the RCCA community. When children participate in school or community garden programs, they become more curious about different types of foods they might not otherwise try and broaden their tastes. That can only be good for their lifetime eating
habits. We are thrilled to be a part of that effort."
