April 10, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Last year Edinburgh based Macdonald Sporrans was the 2nd fastest growing technology company in Scotland.
These stats are based on the Deloitte Fast 50 awards, an annual award for fast growing technology based companies. Had Macdonald Sporrans entered, the company would have won second place. Macdonald Sporrans has seen growth of 1343% in the 5 years leading up to 2013, this places the company above Edinburgh giant Skyscanner who grew by 1033%.
There are a number of large companies including in this category so it came as a surprise to company director, Fergus Macdonald, that Macdonald Sporrans would have won this award has they entered. Not only would the company have been 2nd in Scotland but 15th in the UK.
Operating solely online, Macdonald Sporrans runs a number of retail websites including highland wear at buyakilt.com. A young and fast growing company Macdonald Sporrans works hard to keep a step ahead with innovative new ways of working. All of this has been achieved with a small team which only recently grew to 6 full time staff.
Company director, Fergus Macdonald says "We're definitely proud of what we've achieved and I like to think that we're doing something bigger than just selling products. We're building a company that does things a little differently, and we work a little differently."
The plan for the next year is to enter into awards such as the Deloitte Fast 50 and to showcase the great things happening at Macdonald Sporrans.
