God? I'm scared. Johnny knows everything and he says this stranger will steal my mommy and daddy. I don't want to lose my mommy or my daddy. God, please HELP!

Thoughts like this might be going on in your child's head, since you announced that you are having another baby. While everyone is so excited about the news, Timmy doesn't quite understand why. He doesn't have the same perspective as an adult might have.

Violet Findlay's book, "What Will Baby Be Like? Preparing a sibling for the arrival of a new baby" is written to address many of your child's apprehensions and satisfy his curiosity about the new baby.

It's not just about the baby. It's about the whole family working together during a time of change. Within this book you will find over 150 adorable full color photos of babies and families, short descriptive text, helpful tips for parents, and places to include the older child's photos too.

Timmy will surely be curious to know what he was like when he was a baby. Spaces are provided for pasting photographs of him on the day he was born or a photo of him crawling or doing something funny. This will make him feel included.

Violet uses photos of real babies to give the child a better understanding of what he can expect. One page shows a baby right after he is born. Questions can come up about the umbilical cord or he may want to know why there is some white stuff on the baby's skin.

The book discusses the need for the newborn to sleep a lot, as well as, why baby cries so much. Page twelve states this, "Babies cry a lot! The little baby does not know how to talk yet. The way he/she tries to tell you something is by crying. When babies are hungry, they want to eat RIGHT NOW! After eating, they may feel pain from an air bubble stuck in their tummy. Burping can help get the air bubble out." This page has photos of cute babies crying.

With sections of the book addressing the needs of your older child, the author talks about how the parents will still love him, how he can interact with his new baby brother or sister with each new stage of growth and many more topics to ease his curiosity and help teach him how he can be a helpful and loving "big" brother.

Violet is originally from Paterson, New Jersey and moved to southern California in 1977, with her husband and two daughters ages nine months and three years old. "Working with children has been my passion. I have given much of my life to teaching children and having fun along the way", says Violet.

Violet's first grandchild did not do well when his little sister was born, therefore when the third child was due to be born, she tried to find a book that would serve the needs of the first two grandchildren. Some books fell short of all she wanted to convey and others were meant for parents.

Putting together a book of her own she read it to her grandchildren many times. To Violet's delight, the two grandchildren were eager to try all they had learned from the book. Right from the start, once their little baby brother was born, they knew what to expect, as well as, what they could do to welcome baby. The favorable results inspired Violet to create a book so others would be helped too.

The first book, "What Will Baby Be Like? Preparing a sibling for the arrival of a new baby", was dedicated to her four grandchildren by making sure each one was represented within the book. When the book was finished, she thought about the many multicultural families and decided to publish a book with babies of different ethnic backgrounds. Having the same title, "What Will Baby Be Like? Preparing a sibling for the arrival of a new baby - Ethnic Version" gives you two versions to choose from.

REVIEWS on Amazon.com are favorable. Barry Bardone of Bloomfield, Ohio, Tri-State Writer's Society says this: What Will Baby Be Like? is a sentimental and entertaining primer. A hands-on book for parents and grandparents to communicate to the children the love and happiness a new baby brings to a household. It allows the baby's siblings the opportunity to participate in welcoming home the new family member and understand why there are some changes to the family's priorities....
