The event of the year for 2012 will be, without a doubt, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. This event celebrates the 60th year of the Queen's reign over the United Kingdom and promises to be a spectacular event.

There will be many different celebrations going on throughout the day including a flotilla of boats that will stretch down the Thames for 12.5 miles. A replica Viking Longship is the latest boat to be added to this force and will be sailing alongside the Royal Barge. The Duke Of Edinburgh will be making an appearance as the captain of this particular ship.

Jersey has been looking for an artist that will depict the Diamond Jubilee from a Jersey ship to commemorate the event. This is the same for many places throughout the UK as these pictures will become part of the area's heritage, and evidence that they played a part in one of the biggest celebrations the United Kingdom will ever see.

Many towns and street are planning their street parties already, handing out responsibilities to different families in order to bring a sense of unity to the day.

Some town councils are looking to create a very large celebration that all of the local population will enjoy. Using events equipment from various companies they will turn local halls and churches into celebratory areas.

These areas will have seating in a wide open space for everyone to enjoy the sun, as well as smaller enclosed areas with bake sales and games for people to take part in.

This is the true spirit of celebrating 60 years of the Queen's reign and everybody wants to be a part of it. Getting ready is proving to be a lot of fun for all those involved but leaves them excited and anxious, waiting for the Jubilee to finally arrive.
