February 20, 2014 (Newswire) - University of Technology & Management, Shillong is richer with the joining of well-known scholar and teacher Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharya as Assistant Dean of Technology & Associate Professor in Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering. Dr Bhattacharya bring with very valuable experience.
Dr. Bhattacharya finished his graduation & post-graduation from University of Calcutta and after that he went to United Kingdom for his further studies. Initially he worked as Junior Scientist in Department of Condensed Matter Physics, Lancaster University, where he designed one of the imperative lab (MBE Technique Lab). Later he joined the Department of Communication System as PhD scholar to further his goal.
He completed his Doctorate in Engineering in 2007 he joined Queen`s University, Belfast, Northern Ireland as Junior Scientist. This was the beginning of his research voyage in the area of Electronics & Communication.
He worked for several projects in various Universities all over Europe -- Brunel University (UK), Poznan University (Poland), University of Wolfsburg (Germany), Hamburg University (Germany) before returning to his motherland to work with different Universities and Engineering colleges all over India.
He worked as Senior Scientist in TCOE (Vel Tech University Nodal Center). Telecom Centres of Excellence (TCOE) is a public private partnership initiative under Ministry of IT & Telecommunication, Government of India.
Interestingly 26 batch completed their Master`s project under his guidance and currently four students are doing their PhD research work under his supervision. He is external PhD guide for universities like Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore. He has many prestigious project-funding to his credit by different Government agencies like Department of Science and Defence Research and Development Organization.
Dr Bhattacharya has published 34 research papers in International Journals, presented 17 papers in IEEE and International Conferences and besides conducting a large number of workshops, Faculty Development Programs and seminars in India and abroad. He was the session chair in many International Conferences, jury board member in quite a lot of International Project Competition. He is the editorial board member of numerous International Journals.
For his contribution in the field of Science & Engineering, Govt. of India decorated him with Certificate of Honour.
