In commemoration of National Ice Cream Day on July 17, the fastest of the fast ice cream eaters will all be making a pilgrimage to Farrell's in Mission Viejo. Starting at 11am the 8 fastest men, 8 fastest women, 8 fastest kids and 8 fastest Adult and Kid teams who qualified over the last month will all go head-to-head in a final battle to determine who is "America's Fastest and Best Ice Cream Eaters" in Farrell's 1st Ever 2nd Annual Splendiferously Superiffic Summer Spectacular Ice Cream Eating Challenge. Winners will receive free ice cream for a year, a trophy and "12 months of unlimited bragging rights".

Over the past month, ice cream lovers have been coming into Farrell's two Southern California locations to compete for one of the 8, by invitation only, spots to compete in Sunday's Championship event. Top qualifiers stand at 23.85 seconds in the men's category, 44.50 seconds in the Women's category and 39.87 seconds in the Kid's category. But to take home the bragging rights of being America's fastest ice cream eaters, a year of free Farrell's Ice Cream and the trophy, contestants must step up their game from the 3-scoop qualifying sundae to Farrell's Famous Pig's Trough. The men, women and the Big and the Small categories will tackle Farrell's Pig's Trough which is a double Banana Split and includes 6-scoops of ice cream complete with toppings. The Kid's will tackle a Jr. Pig's Trough, which has 6(six) - 2oz ice cream scoops rather than the normal 4oz scoops.

In addition, to coming out to cheer on the ice cream champs, Farrell's will have giveaways, a celebrity guest host and raffle items. Noah Munck, best known as Gibby from Nickelodeon's hit show iCarly and comedy "Bad Teacher" with Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake and Jason Segel, will co-host the Kids and Big and Small events at 11:30 and 12:30 respectively. Farrell's will be raffling off two autographed Angels Baseball jerseys, gift baskets and autographed Noah Munck Farrell's event shirts. 100% of the proceeds from this event benefit CHOC Children's® and Make-A-Wish Foundation®.
