SimpleUPC Helps Developers Add Rich Grocery Product Information, Nutrition, & Images To Their Apps

SimpleUPC is a new service that makes it easy for developers to add grocery product information, nutrition facts, and images to their web and mobile applications. The RESTful API allows developers to obtain valuable assets from over 15,000 brands.

Pushpins, Inc., today announced the launch of a new service that makes it easy for developers to add grocery product information to their web and mobile applications. The service, called SimpleUPC [www.simpleupc.com], is a RESTful API that allows for developers to gain access to product information of food, beverage, health and beauty, personal care, and baby products from over 15,000 brands and nearly 5,000 different manufacturers.

When using the service, developers will add just a few lines of code to gain access to a powerful set of grocery data all linked to Universal Product Codes (UPCs). SimpleUPC instantly returns product information and nutrition facts by UPC or by querying other fields like manufacturer, brand, or product category. Developers can also gain access to high-quality manufacturer-approved product images, the identical images that are used in store circulars. Product information gets updated on a nightly basis, so the information is completely up-to-date.

"While building our grocery coupon app Pushpins, we saw how expensive and difficult it was to get accurate grocery product information for our application," said Jason Gurwin, CEO and co-founder of Pushpins. "Instead of spending tens of thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours building a database of products, developers can now easily plug into the world's first grocery data API, the same one used by our own award-winning mobile coupon application."

"The tool will allow developers to concentrate on building great products and let us focus on bringing rich and accurate product information to their applications," said Peter Michailidis, CMO and co-founder of Pushpins. "SimpleUPC makes it easy to build shopping lists, nutrition trackers, or barcode scanning applications.

SimpleUPC is available for a low monthly subscription fee at www.simpleupc.com. The service is offered in three tiers, each which include different levels of product information. Starting today developers can sign-up for a 30-day free trial.
