Saint Louis Military Officer Support Foundation Partners with The Shred Truck

First "Shred for America" Event in St. Louis will be on Saturday, June 7, 2014

The Saint Louis Military Officer Support Foundation (SLMOSF) is partnering with The Shred Truck and American Eagle Credit Union for its first "Shred For America" event. A three hour shred-a-thon is being hosted in support of our young men and women who have committed to serve our country as officers in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. Tens of thousands of individuals report identity theft and identity fraud crimes each year and experts say only a fraction of these crimes are actually reported.

Documents that need to be safely discarded can be brought to the American Eagle Credit Union on Saturday, June 7 from 9 a.m. to noon. The event is rain or shine. The Credit Union is located at 2175 Barrett Station Road at the corner of Manchester and Barrett Station Road in Town and Country, Missouri.

"This year will be the very first "Shred For America" event hosted by SLMOSF," said Keath Hausher, the Founder of SLMOSF. "This is a great opportunity for folks to combat identity fraud while at the same time supporting the Cadets, Midshipmen and other Military Officers from our City."

In 2012, about 7% of persons age 16 or older were victims of identity theft. The majority of identity theft incidents (85%) involved the fraudulent use of existing account information, such as credit card or bank account information. Among victims who had personal information used for fraudulent purposes, 29% spent a month or more resolving problems. When the cost of professional shredding is compared against the cost of not shredding (litigation, lost earnings, reputation damage), the math will always lead back to third-party, professional shredding.

"I've known Keath for a long time, and supporting Keath's Foundation is the least I can do to help him support those who choose to serve our Country," said Nick Kirkou the owner of The Shred Truck. "With any kind of donation, patriots can shred a bin of documents."
