Quoting Online Trumps Traditional Advertising

Going online to get job leads has proved to be more effective than traditional advertising, according to the latest survey conducted by ServiceSeeking.com.au.

Traditional advertising is no longer the best option for Australian SMEs, with online quote platforms providing a more cost-effective alternative to getting job leads.

A recent survey conducted by ServiceSeeking.com.au has shown that businesses are increasingly committed to using online resources to gain job leads, rather than spending on advertising. More and more, businesses are going online to send quotes, generate interest through review websites, and list in directories.

Relative cost-effectiveness has driven this trend. Businesses on Service Seeking make an average of $20.19 of income for every $1 they spend on membership to the website.

Building and trades businesses such as electricians, builders and plumbers receive the best return- tradies make more than $25 on income for every dollar that they spend on quoting online.

Home service companies like cleaners, furniture removalists and gardeners make $17 back for every dollar spent.

Events businesses such as wedding photographers, celebrants and hair stylists reported making $13 per dollar spent.

"Traditional advertising no longer offers the best value for SMEs in terms of return on investment," says Jeremy Levitt, CEO of ServiceSeeking.com.au.

"Quoting online gives businesses more bang for their buck because businesses are able to reach customers that actually need to get jobs done."

Survey data was collected from 710 active business members. They reported winning 3,973 jobs with a total value of $2.8m. On average each respondent spent $194 to win 5.6 jobs worth $3,917.
