Online, August 16, 2011 (Newswire.com) - PurpleBug, Inc visited Surigao del Norte for the digital marketing training included in the 2011 SME Negosyo Caravan under the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), May 30-31.
The caravan was launched on April 2011 and had visited three provinces (Bukidnon, Oriental Mindoro, Antique) before Surigao. This annual program led by DTI and its training arm, the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC) aims to bring the available business development services closer to the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) especially in rural areas. Through the nationwide tour, DTI gives Filipino entrepreneurs access to free business training and counseling sessions.
For the digital marketing topic, DTI selected PurpleBug Vice President for Sales and Marketing Jonnadeth Coja as the resource speaker. During the training, Ms Coja explained the relevance of digital marketing to the Philippine SME sector. Given the growing PC penetration and Internet usage in the country, she emphasized the huge potential offered by e-marketing especially to small and medium-sized businesses.
In her lecture, Ms Coja specifically discussed the basics of internet marketing and website planning. She taught the entrepreneur trainees how to plan and create the content and style of the website that will be most effective for their businesses. She also demonstrated how to use search engine optimization (SEO) tools available online.
The SME Caravan is scheduled to hold training in other regions in the country: Bukidnon (April 27-28), Oriental Mindoro (May 18-19), Antique (May 26-27), Surigao del Norte (May 30-31), Zambales (June 2-3), Cagayan (June 14-15), Sorsogon (June 22-23), Davao Oriental (June 28-29), Zamboanga del Norte (July 1-2). Negros Oriental (July 5-6), Lucena (July 14-15), Pangasinan (July 20-21), Saranggani (July 26-27), Northern Samar (August 3-4) and Abra (August).
