World Landmarks Turn Teal for TN
On October 7th, 2015 the world will celebrate the Third Annual International TN Awareness Day
Cambridge, Ma, October 5, 2015 (Newswire.com) - This year awareness campaign is dedicated to the Children and Teens with Trigeminal Neuralgia and Facial Pain Disorders.
TN, commonly known as Trigeminal Neuralgia, is a rare disease in the fifth cranial nerve of the brain that supplies sensation to the face. A nerve in the brain is twisted, causing immense pain in the teeth, jawbone, ear and across the human face. Only four percent of the human population suffers from this painful disease. Some of those individuals suffering from TN can have brain surgery based on the extent of the diagnosis; however, the surgery is only 40% effective. TN is a lifelong disorder unless the brain surgery is successfully completed. Individuals are known to have gone into remission, but the diagnosis is long-term.
TNNME is an organization of trigeminal neuralgia sufferers and advocates dedicated to spreading awareness and education about the disease and requesting the World Health Organization to add trigeminal neuralgia to the “Health Topic List
